Napa Valley, sometimes known as just Napa is located the heart of the wine country in northern California in the San Francisco north bay. Although only about 4% of the grapes in California are grown in the Napa Valley it's wine and wineries are by far the best known for their quality across the USA and world.
Thousands of visitors to are
welcomed to the valley every day and find touring the wineries,
wine tastings,
spas,
lodging and dining to be superb.
It is 53 miles from San Francisco and is nestled in a valley between Sonoma
county to the west (another wine growing region) Lake county to the north
(where new vineyards are springing up daily), Solano county to the south and
east. Within the county (starting from the south end) are the cities and towns
of American Canyon, the city of Napa, Yountville, Oakville, Rutherford, St
Helena, and Calistoga. To the east of St Helena in the hills are the towns of
Angwin and Deer Park and slightly further is Lake Berryessa and Pope Valley.
