Doctor of optometry, educated, clinically trained and state
licensed to examine the eye and vision system, diagnose
vision problems and eye diseases, prescribe glasses or contact lenses,
and provide referral. In many states, optometrists may use

Ophthalmologist or Optometrist trained in
the functional evaluation of people with low vision and in the
prescription of low vision devices. Low vision is a subspecialty; not all
eye care professionals are trained in this area.
Opticians
Trained to grind, fit and dispense corrective lenses
and low vision devices prescribed by an ophthalmologist or optometrist.
