Yountville
Named after George Yount, first white settler in Napa Valley. Increased
population by 366 in the last decade and is still building, but slowly.
Yountville now has 3,500 according to City Hall.
Location of Veterans Home and one of the few towns in the state where men
outnumber women, 2,040 to 1,219. The vets' census figures make up about 41% of
Yountville. Families number just over 500, census says.
Tourist-wine country burg with hotels, old wineries converted into shops and
restaurants. Place to make connections to hot air balloon rides.
Children attend school in the Napa Valley Unified School District.
A very nice place to visit and linger, but the small size has in the past
restricted the choice of housing. This is not true any more due to two big new
subdivisions constructed in 1996 & 1997.
